car with English registration plate
If you stay in Tenerife as a tourist, than You can use your car
here without any problems. If you stay in Tenerife as a resident,
than you get after applying for a residential, 1 month time to
have your car registered in Tenerife to a Spanish registration
plate.
How Introduce you car in Tenerife
In case of establishment in Tenerife, were the car is a
part of you furniture, will be considerate that the VAT is paid in
England, that the car is used by yourself in England for 6 months
and that you had driven 6.000 kilometers with it. With the
registration of you car you will need the Spanish residency and
you have to pay the Spanish-registration-plate-tax (=Impuesto
de matriculación). This TAX will be 12% of the value of the car,
calculated by the actual value of the market in Tenerife. It
happens a lot that you have to go with you car to the testing.
I.T.V. (= Inspección
Técnica de Vehículos). Ones the car is registered in Tenerife
, (new) cars must be inspected after 5 years of age; cars between 5-9
years every two years and older then 9 years, every year.
Road TAX (Impuesto de Circulación de Vehículos)
When you bought a car in Tenerife or bring your car in to
Tenerife, you have to go to "Impuesto de Circulación de
Vehículos" for registration and pay the road tax. You will
get temporally a credit slip send to your house, but you have to
go yourself for declaration and pay the tax. The credit slip you
have paid, need to stay in you car for always together with you
registration card and insurance papers.
Attencion: It is NOT posible to buy a car in Tenerife without
you NIE-number.
